Am I going crazy? Gmail

So I broke out my old 8900 running a 5.0.0.xxx leaked firmware from over a year ago and set up my email on it no problems. When I added my google apps gmail address, it showed the GMail logo right with Yahoo and AOL and once logged in it pulled all my old messages to the phone.

Then I was having some problems with tmobile phonebook sync and a few other things like app world were crashing so I wiped it and installed the newest OS using blackberry.com/update. Now gmail shows the generic pop mail logo and wont pull my old messages.

I haven't really used a BB in a while, was I dreaming this magical GMail sync or was it there on the leaked OS that was on there originally? How can I get it back?
