8900 v.s 9630
Who's gonna upgrade there 8900 to a 9630 and who's staying with there 8900 and why

If you're moving to a CRMA carrier i would understand but head to head running on GSM the 8900 is the better BB.
Device history: 8100 > 8320 > 9000 (brief) > 9530 (Ugh!) & 8900 > 8220 > 8120 > 8520 > 9550
> 9000 > 9700 9650

8900 rocks..... Will the 9630 even be on Tmobile?

Yeah if it's a CDMA phone then, unless you move away from Tmo or ATT, you wont be able to use it.
8900 has more features and is a GSM phone.. so no I wont be switching phones.Last edited by dannieloco; 03-22-2009 at 08:46 PM.

9630 is a world phone, FYI... It will work on AT&T and T-Mo

Good question. Nobody cripples phones like Verizon. They have excellent coverage but you pay for it.
Just because it is a world phone, doesn't mean you can use it on AT&T and TMO. They use two different technologies; Verizon being CDMA. So FYI, the 9630 will NOT work on AT&T and TMO.Mark - 03-22-2009, 10:26 PM #17
I didn't think so.

The 9630 is a Quad Band phone that mean's (SM/GPRS/EDGE, single band UMTS/HSDPA (2100MHz only), 1X/EVDO CDMA) it carries all four radios making it compatible for use in all countries . This includes GSM. Yes indeed the 9630 can be unlocked and used on GSM Carriers. This is a fact not speculation

I will be sticking with my 8900, why? Because I have just started a new contract and can't move for 18 months. Otherwise I'd maybe consider it, don't think all that CDMA and GSM effects us over here. Not bothered about it having no Wi-fi if you have a data plan then you don't need Wi-fi. But hey, wont be giving up my 8900 just yet. Maybe if the Niagara is out over here in September 2010 then I shall consider it

People just don't get that the 9630 is a world phone. If you look carefully, you can find a sim card tray

Yea it'll work on ATT and TMO but only on EDGE. It doesn't have north american 3G GSM.
So it'll work. But speed will be the exact same as the 8900
