8800 to Bold 8300 Curve to Javelin!
Dosent it seem like the 8100 pearl should be getting a update sooner or later?
Or do you think that the kickstart is going to take the pearls place on the block?

So i think im still going to get a bold over the jav just cuz the bold is coming out 1st and a lot sooner, and the jav seems like a knock down bold!
What do you think? - 07-23-2008, 08:01 PM #2
What reason would RIM have for updating an old product.

Tha Javelin has features the Bold doesn't, they are two different phones, so I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a "knock down" version. I prefer the design of the Javelin over the Bold, but more importantly, I do not need the 3G technology as it hasn't matured yet. From what I read, the screen resolution is better and the camera is better.

I agree! I personally like the idea of the 'Jav' over the Bold

As for a Pearl 'child' coming along... who knows! I do not think the KickStart will suffice. There will definitely need to be something to fill the gap between KickStart and Javelin sooner or later.
I mean, I personally would hate a BlackBerry flip-style phone... but what if I wanted something with SureType and something smaller than the Javelin?
And, by no means does the Thunder fall between KickStart and Javelin, so who knows!

i think the name "Kickstart" and the phone implies, start up phone, so it would be a beginners BB phone for someone who wants a BB. Am I right/valid in thinking this way?

here is a quick spool on the blackberry javelin... people over at rim HATE the Javelin and they call it the bull sh*** device! they say its really hard to type on it and the screen is not as nice as the bold... they also call it the *cabold* its a mix between the curve and the bold! or so i have been told!

Yeah... sorry, but I do not believe you at all

No offense, but provide a source or show some credibility. I also heard Elvis was still alive...
At least think of a more believable name "cabold"... good one! hahaha
The Javelin is, in its own right, a mix between the Curve and the Bold... what are you even talking about?!

If true, then surely it won't go to market without corrections.
I like the Bold although not thrilled with the initial reviews.
I was starting to think the Javelin would be my choice to replace my curve. Better camera, screen equal to the Bold, plus hopefully free of the Bold bugs.
Keyboard better be good though. I'm just 'okay' with the Curve's keyboard as it is. The 8700 keyboard has been blackberry's best IMO. - 07-24-2008, 12:30 PM #10
no offense or anyting but i dont really care who u are and i don't know u and i don't really care what u think... i am just saying what i hear if u chose to accept it then accept and if u don't then keep it to yourself... thank you

i think the javelin seems to be more like a curve 2. just because the look resembles the bold, doesn't mean it is like the bold. that is just the newer class of blackberries. kind of like how 8800 and 8300 look similar. i feel like the bold/javelin are the new curve/8800.
what i don't understand is why the javelin is not 3g capable. my 8330 is, so why shouldn't the javelin be, or any other phone RIM produces for that matter. - 07-24-2008, 01:12 PM #12Luigi

wow, just wow! Please go back in your hole and do not come back out...
Why did the things I say offend you so much? I questioned your information, because it is highly skeptical that any of it is correct!! Nobody (BGR, CB, BerryReview, Engadget, etc) and I mean nobody has ever even talked about such a dumb device as the "cabold"... not even sources at RIM!
Maybe that is why you are p!ssed that I called you out... your information it totally flawed and nobody believes you.
Sorry, bud, but there is no need to flip out and call me out for no reason. Relax! (PS : Nobody believes you... STILL)
Thank you for the support... not sure why someone felt the need to totally call me out for no reason! That is a good way to p*ss someone off! Especially when they have no clue what they are talking about and are new to the community

Exactly! I am not even sure WTF they were trying to say in their original post (below)?? I mean... look at that, it does not even make any logical sense!
First, how does this person know the "insiders" of RIM hate the Javelin. And, if they do... I am sure RIM would adress it!
That is the point of R&D and testing devices... to fix issues!! RIM will not release a devie that its own employees hate! *DUH*
Secondly, it is kind of obvious : Curve --> Javelin : 8800 --> Bold
The Javelin and the Curve will have a resemblance... they are both a 9000 series device! Just as the 8000 series resemble each other slightly... look at the Pearl, Curve and 8800, they all have resemblances. The 9000 series have similar features as well. I do not know how this person pulled *cabold* out of their @ss, but it makes no sense. I am not sure if they are saying it is a different device or if that is what RIM calls the Javelin since it is the Curve successor and resembles the Bold.
Either way, RIM would not release some POS device that even their own employees do not like!!

I think he was saying that's what "they" refer to it in the office, as "cabold". They are making fun of it.
And RIM wouldn't care too much if only a few people in the office didn't like it. they have to please the mass.
I don't like how this guy came off with personal attacks, but he may have some inside knowledge. I do agree if you are making a cry out like he did, he should back it up or show proof.Luigi

Ok, let me throw my 2 cents in. I have never heard anyone from RIM refer to any device as the "cabold", nor has any of my co-workers. I did not say it wasn't possible, just that I've never heard the reference. I doubt it very seriously. Also, RIM is "STOKED" about the Kickstart. They believe they have a winner among a certain demographic. Period. End of story. Anywho< i hope you guys have a nice day.

Yea,Kickstart is a nifty looking device...and I went to a BB to get away from Flip phones...might be going back now

I second this thought. BMC is one of our most knowledgable and respected members here at CB, and to address him, or anyone for that matter, in the manner you felt was appropriate was out of line. Because he simply does not believe what you have to say does not give you the right to speak to him the way you did. Frankly, I don't believe what you had to say either. The "cabold??" Really????? Do you honestly believe that a company such as RIM could come up with nothing better than the "cabold?" Please. Also, it is blatantly obvious that your research of these new devices is severely lacking. If the Javelin were nothing but a "mixture of the Bold and the Curve," why would RIM even release it!? Why would they need not only the Bold, the Curve, but also a new device that is simply nothing more than a mixture or the two?? Why waste the money and resources researching, developing, and manufacturing a device that is simply a copy of two other phones? Think about what you write before you post here.
