Unhappy Wish me luck with this!

Well, my Curve 8530 went for an accidental swim yesterday, and I was immediately able to pull the battery and the card and place the phone in a jar of dry rice right away. It's been in the jar since the unfortunate incident two days ago, and tomorrow will be the day I take it out, place it front of a fan (just in case its still wet inside), and then insert the battery and turn it on.

I'm really hoping it works, as its been a great phone and I've enjoyed using it paired with my Playbook. (Plus, I still have 17 mos left on the 36 mo contract).

Wish me luck, if all goes well I'll post back with it on this thread, but if not, it may be time for me to consider either the Bold 9900 or the Torch 9810 (can't decide which yet).

Rob

Thanks, would my carrier (Telus) just need to activate a phone purchased that way, since my current one has no sim card?

Default Unsuccessful

Looks like the rice trick didn't work. I removed the curve from the jar of rice, and even though it appeared dry, I had it in front of the fan for about 20 minutes before trying it out with the battery.

Turned it on, and it looked like it was powering on normally before it flashed a white screen and got stuck at that point. Had to pull the battery, but haven't been able to see an led indicator since.

Looks like it's done
