Cool Virgin Mobile Curve, is it magic?

Long story short I have a Blackberry Curve 8530 on virgin mobile. I had it for about 1 month, then stopped using it and stopped paying for its service. I stopped paying for service on it in November, and set it in a drawer as a backup device. Today I take it out to play with, and it has capital EVDO bars showing a data connection... so I mess around. Here's what I found out.

I CAN:
Use Pandora
Use Opera Browser
Use Slacker

I CANT:
Text
Call
MMS
use Stock browser
Use BBM
use SOME apps

My old account on virgin mobile shows no usage, and no longer has any of my payment information. My question is, how does it still have data?!?! and in some apps?!?!? magic?

Shhhh! Don't clue them in. If I happen to be late on my payment all internet apps still work. Along with the opera browser. Even after a 2 month absence. My theory is they only shut off phone service not BIS. No clue why but I like it.

maybe this is why they stopped selling the BB :P also, if u restore a .ipd backup that tells the browser to use TCP/IP, stock browser works Guess to them disabling means stopping BIS and calls, but not data??

Last week they didn't process my payment correctly (the website) and my data and BIS was still working, but no voice or SMS.
