I had alot of battery yesterday it only used 20 percent same on Saturday and I was texting a bit made a call or two. Here in school it's always looking for signal wifi is off and is keypad locked and on standby. OS is the newest. I think..

Need help
got a curve 8530 battery life 7-10 hours with 1 hour usage texting and net.
Verizon gave me new battery no change in battery life, old curve lasted days
with similar type usage. only 3 days left on 30 day exchange is it a problem
with the phone should I get a different model are other people having same experience. Verizon does seem to think it's an issue.

That way you can atleast be sure it's not a defective phone. And let the new one break in for a while and you should see an improvement in battery life.
Plus, do the usual things: turn off wifi when not in use, turn off BT when not in use, close all apps correctly, etc.

I too am in the same boat as yall on the battery. I have turned my backlight to 10 and my backlight timeout to 10 and that seems to help some. I keep my wifi off. I rarely browse the internet on it because im around a computer all day. I do use mine to play music all day at work.

| | Very poor product.
I purchased my first 8530 in March. Being new to the BB scene I didn't know what to expect for battery life. After about 3-4 weeks of my battery dying between 11am and 4pm I went into the store seeking "Tech Support". I kept wifi and bt off unless being used. I kept the backlight at 30%. I was told that having the GPS setting enabled was the culprit for draining so quickly. I turned it off. I waited...and waited....and waited. Over the course of the next 2-3 weeks I went back another 3 times before the broke down and exchanged the battery out. The new battery made no difference. I went back on Friday May 21 after my phone being too dead to make a phone call at 11am. (By the way I take my phone off of charge at 5am each day) I was given a new phone by the assistant manager this time with a new battery out of the package. On Monday May 24th I was yet again in the store at 1pm with my battery at 20%. The proceeded to give me another new battery. So lets take a count real quick. That is 2 brand new phones and 1,2,3,4 brand new batteries. I am disgusted with both the product and the service and support of Verizon Wireless. At this rate I will have either a new battery and/or phone every 2 weeks. This will be a LONG 2yr contract. According to Verizon they would be able to swap models if it had been within 30-60 days. I guess the fact that I was in their store with this problem within 3 weeks of purchase doesn't matter. Pathetic....

My experience with Battery Life seems to vary based on where I am...
In my apartment:
I get a full signal at home and even run WiFi just because I can. With my usage I get around 8 - 12 hours. That's 50 - 100 txts, 30 - 40 BBM's, and a good amount of phone time. For all the phone does, I think that's great. My 8330 was more over the 15 hour mark... but it also didn't have wifi, activeGPS, the extra app memory or the faster processor. (remembering of course that they use the same battery) Trade off's I'll take
On campus/school and around town:
I get almost no signal in most of the buildings around campus, but still need my emails, Pandora ect. so the WiFi gets heavy use while at school. Around town depending on where I am the signal is always there, but it bounces around. On days when I have school and have to go about doing things around town, I notice I get 6-8 hours of battery life. I generally carry around my old curves battery just in case but because I am generally not far from a charger when I really need one I don't find my phone getting to the point were I need to use it.
So that's my battery life and usage. Hopefully that helps get a feel for what kind of battery life is expected. I will say that when I changed from a feature to a smart phone it was a huge shock that I had to charge it everyday. But, that's the trade off you make when you go from a phone that can only make calls and text to a phone that can almost replace a laptop for basic interneting, business and social networking needs.

There is so much more I would love to say, but I won't so as to not incur the wrath of the moderator.

I usually charge mines about once a day. I don't talk a lot on the phone; most of the times I use less then 200 mins. I wish VZW had roll over mins because I would have a crap load of them but back to your question: I do receive emails and text all day long and usually listen to music via media player or Pandora at least a couple of hours a day, on the internet and maybe a half hour of game playing. My office is located in the basement of a building and my 8530 fights to maintain a signal down there so I know I'm using a lot more juice when I'm at work but when at home, I can usually go 2 days before needing a charge and that's also with WIFI connected at times during the day. Before the first official upgrade from VZW, the batt life sucked but since the upgrade (at least for me) the batt usage is a lot better and for everything it does and my usage during the day, I'm quite happy with it.

Yeah, the adapter sounds like a good idea. At least I'll still have some use for all of the USB cables I have lying around |

I couldn't dream of getting into day 2 without plugging in. I'm very disappointed with the battery life and the lack of a leather pouch to put the device into standby for me--but very pleased with the optical trackpad, wifi and new 5.0 OS. Not ready to take it back for the Tour--not sure I could ever go back to trackball, nor could I go back to being without WiFI. I think I'll just suck it up and by an extra charger for work. Oh yeah that reminds me, you need new charging accessories because the jack is now smaller--that irked me too. But wow, the upgrades make up for the small deficiencies. For a Curve 8330 user the 8530 doesn't feel like an entry level berry--but poor battery life (and the screen, when compared to the Tour) bring you back to reality. | Had the phone for about 3 weeks. Was fine until recently. Am making sure I don't accidentally have browser on, but no help.
Charged over night and talked on it for about 30 mins and a bar is already missing.
Also, there is hestitation quite often with the scroller and attempting to closeout apps.

The battery is horrible. It wouldn't last a half a day. Seidio battery took care of that.

I get great battery life.
Close your apps.
Clear your logs.
Daily battery pull.
Set facebook to never refresh, we don't need it to since we have push.
Set all social apps to refresh at their longest intervals.
Use WIFI manager, this helps a lot.
Turn off javascript, low quality images in browser options, this helps a lot.
Keep blue tooth, wifi and location (GPS) turned off unless you need them on.
Lower your screen brightness and how long it stays light.
Lock the screen after every time you use your phone and not waiting for the screen to time out.
With all this I have crazy battery life.
With light use two days is the norm. Heavy use I get 22 hours.
