| | great battery life so far
Used it for 2 days now. Pretty impressive- day 1 heavy use still had 30% left after a 12 hour day txting, calls, browsing and multiple emails.
day 2- today still at 45% using wifi often- multiple calls, emails, and sms

i will say that its not nearly as good as the 8330, but then again it has a stronger processor, better screen, and of course the new factor means we are playing with it a lot more than usual. also i'm still a firm believer in the discharge/charge factor. I always find that after a few days of letting it run till death and charging fully always gives you a better battery life cycle. So after the first week its better. I have meterberry installed and last night i was at 2% at 11pm after a full day of texting, bbming, and playing with wifi, and going on CB forums and about 2 hours of phone calls. today was the same thing but no 2 hour phone call so i have about 60% after 12 hours, its still a phone that has to be charged in my eyes, but what phone doesnt ? lol. it beats the storm, which needs a charge after you boot it up |

| | battery life worse than my 8330
I don't know how you guys are doing it. I've had the phone for 2 days and the battery died on me at 5PM the first day and today, Saturday, I've made it last the whole day only by putting it into standby mode every instant I'm not on it--never had to do that with the 8330. I couldn't dream of getting into day 2 without plugging in. I'm very disappointed with the battery life and the lack of a leather pouch to put the device into standby for me--but very pleased with the optical trackpad, wifi and new 5.0 OS. Not ready to take it back for the Tour--not sure I could ever go back to trackball, nor could I go back to being without WiFI. I think I'll just suck it up and by an extra charger for work. Oh yeah that reminds me, you need new charging accessories because the jack is now smaller--that irked me too. But wow, the upgrades make up for the small deficiencies. For a Curve 8330 user the 8530 doesn't feel like an entry level berry--but poor battery life (and the screen, when compared to the Tour) bring you back to reality.

FYI, MINI to MICRO usb adapters are about $1.00 on ebay. All of your old chargers wih the mini USB, get plugged into the adapter, and that turns into a micro plug that goes into the 8530. The verizon store wont tell you that though
Check your running programs, maybe you're not closing out of apps correctly? mine is lasting me 35 hours.

For me, I am coming from the 8130 Pearl and so its a HUGE upgrade. I don't feel like I am using an entry BB either but then again I am coming from a Pearl with OS version 4.x.
So far, I'm having to re-charge when I go to bed, but I am definitely not lasting 2 days, more like a day. It's not that big of an issue cuz it easily gets me through school and work and then some in the evening. Not that big of a deal but I am having to recharge every night.

I am on the fence about the Storm 2 because I am looking to upgrade to a Global ready device. I am not thrilled about the Tour because I would also love to have a bigger display for pictures, videos, etc... Besides, I want a touch screen. The more I hear about the Curve 2, however, I debate whether I should stray from the product line that offered me consistency and solid performance to go with a totally new line that I'm not entirely used to.

I'm a complete newbie to bb and just bought a 8530 friday. LOVE IT!! I have found, with help from these formus, that you MUST close programs to get any kind of battery life. If you don't put it into standby it will come on with every event and use juice. And be careful with the WiFi, it gets battery hungery. Besides, compared to most phones, puttin this one into standby is much easier than locking the keyboard. so just do it. And 30+ hours of heavy use is GREAT for any portable device. How much batter life do you want?? Try using anything made by Nextel and the come talk to me about battery life. 12 - 14 hours STANDBY if your lucky.

Coming from a 8330 which I got 2 days on, give or take...the 8530 is a little dissapointing.
I was getting a day.... I turned my screen down to 40% and that helped. Now I get a day and a half or so. I am addicted to hold 'em and solitare, however...
I do turn off the WiFi if it's not being used as well.
I chalk it up to more memory, faster processor and better screen too.
When you can get a home and car charger off fleabay for 6 bucks shipped, I don't see any point in buying a dollar adapter that you'd have to take everywhere.
You can already charge it in two spots with the factory wall charger AND the USB cable via any computer....

that dollar adapter isn't so bad. nothing to really take except the chargers that you'd be taking anyway =) http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/pict/1...39498080_1.jpg | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
