Default Unlocked O2 8520

I recently changed to a Curve 8900 as my Dad had recently upgraded, I prefer the higher resolution screen/brightness and trackpad, so I wanted to give my Curve 8520 to my girlfriend who is on the 3 network.

I went through the standard bb unlock procedure with a succesful message at the end but the phone still only works with my O2 sim card - I've tried a few including 3, Vodafone and Tico with no success. As a result of already going through the unlock process I don't have the opportunity to enter another unlock code - has anyone else had this problem/is there a solution?

Thanks for any help

The 3 Network runs UTMS. (It does not have a 2G network.) The 8520 is a GSM (2G) only device. The two are not compatible.

Note that a BlackBerry only needs to be unlocked once. Once it is unlocked, it stays unlocked and can be used on any compatible network.

Thanks for the information guys - judging by the 3 Website only 3BB's are UMTS compatible. I presume there is no way to convert the network compatibility! Now I just have to think what to do with the spare phone
