Default uncaught exception: net_rim_bbm..202

Hello,

Curve 8520:
Everytime I used to receive an email while using the phone [like BBMing for example], my phone would hang for a long time and sometimes BBM would crash. So I decided that an OS update might solve the issue. I updated from 4.6 to 5.0. Now I get that error more often. I googled it and found that it means that one of my BBM modules may be hit, or it could be from one of my contacts. So, I backed up my contact list, removed them all, then re-added them. The issue was not resolved. I thought about uninstalling and reinstalling BBM, but I cannot uncheck the BBM from the Desktop Software.

Help?
I thought about 2 things: re-adding the contacts one by one or maybe deleting BBM so that dektop software would give me the option to reinstall it?

Thanks in advance

First, I'm going on the assumption you mean BBM contacts and not the address book.

Second, at some point along the way, RIM made BBM a core app. However, if you have an upgrade available and you upgrade BBM, you will then be able to delete it and reinstall it.

However, given what you have already done, I would test again the theory that a contact is the problem. Maybe it's the special characters in a contact's name. Who knows. Try this time removing all the contacts and test for 24 hours before you add any back. See what happens.

If there are no problems, add one contact and test for 24 hours. Then one or two more, test, one or two more, etc. Maybe that way you will find the problem. If you get the error, remove the last contacts re-added, and test.

First of all thanks,

Yes, I meant BBM contacts not address book contacts.

One update today:
I got a net_rim_bb_gmail(112) not responding error today. This is the first time. Still insignificant if for the first time, right?
Another thing: I change all the BBM contacts' display names to First Name Last Name. No special characters, not even emoticons.

The problem is that I rely on BBM a lot (read addicted)...you know gf, boss, coworkers, family, etc..so I would rather find another solution. Another thing is that sometimes 24 hours pass and I don't get this error. So your way might not be 100% effective.

Thanks again,

Do you keep long BBM chats open for a long time, or do you close chats when you are done?

If you are keeping chats open, try closing them. If you want to keep the chats to refer to them later, email them to yourself.

Another option for saving chats is to set BBM to save chat history. I don't know how this works, or how well. Only know the option is there.

But try closing chats.

I usually close the chats by pressing the "esc" button. I do NOT press the "menu" button > Close.

I just got: Uncaught exception: net_rim_bb_qm_peer(203) and BBM is not opening. I can see who is sending me stuff from the "Messages" though and reply.

I have OS 5.0 build 1168.

Regards,
