uma connection

alright so i bought an unlocked att bLACKBERRY CURVE 8520. i updated it, got the uma option on connections, the only real problem i have now is when i'm on wi-fi preferred it says edge at top, then when i switch to wi-fi only, it says off and then only my wifi. on my old 8520 (tmobile) when i switched to wifi only, it said uma (not UMA). honestly i loved it and i was wondering how i could get this option back, cuz i honestly dont wanna pay for data, and i wanna be on wifi , but i also want to be able to txt and call while on wifi only. so i would really appreciate anyone helping me with this. also my wifi at home is like perfect, so im pretty sure thats not the problem

Edit: oh yeah i did a wifi diagnostics on my phone, and this is what it came up with

Status: ISP error. DNS server cannot be reached.

my tcp/ip setting are
:check: APN Settings enabled:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
:unchecked: APN Authencation enabled
Username for APN: blank
Password for APN: blank

im thinkin since it was an att phone originally should i restore it back to its cingular tcp/ip settings? Thank you for taking the time to read this long post

Edit: i guess what i'm essentially tryna ask is when you turn on wifi only it should switch to uma or UMA right??? well mines doesn't it just turns mobile network off. how do i get it to switch to uma?

ok so I figured out its my phone not the Internet. Cuz the same thing happens at multiple locations. I don't have bis Or hes (previous phone didn't either and worked perfectly) so is it because its an unlocked at&t phone or what? how do I fix this? and I know this is completely irrelevant but is there an app for this forum, Cuz I love this forum
