Speaker bad, switch bodies with old Altel Curve???

So my phone fell out of my coat the other night and smacked hard on a wood floor and since then the speaker has sounded very distorted and fuzzy. My girlfriend has an old Altel Curve, same model as mine, and I was wondering if the speaker was built in to the motherboard or if it was built in to the body. If it's built in to the body, is it possible then to put my Verizon Curve's motherboard in to the body of the Altel Curve?

I have a feeling the speaker is built in to the motherboard but I'm hoping it is not. Let me know if anyone has had this same experience or if they know it is possible.

Didn't think I would have time to try this over lunch but I did and it worked! I did not switch bodies but just switched the screens. Not only is the speaker no longer fuzzy but for some reason the Altel screen looks more clear than the Verizon one. Perhaps the Verizon screen was just old. If anyone needs any help with this just let me know, it's a real simple switch.
