problem with curve 8520

my niece has been using my curve and now even after wiping the device and trying to re download everything theres still issues. she cant add anyone on bbm, even after creating a blackberry email the folder never showed up on the menu,and now you cant even make a email on the phone, i downloaded app world and it disapeared and i cant find it anywhere even after re downloading it says its there but no icon its not hidden how do i fix these problems??

A complete wipe and then re-install OS5 should solve her issues. I've noticed that is the best way to remove EVERYTHING from the device.

hook it up to Desktop Software with no battery in it and hit upgrade and then it let download the OS and then pop in the battery once it finishes downloading.

*This will give it a clean wipe. All data will be lost.

Did you set up that e-mail account from your computer?
And did you download App World over Wifi?

I think you don't have a BIS plan active.
