Default MicroSD compatibility for VM BB 8530?

I have a Virgin Mobile 8530 Curve (so no SIM card.) It came with an undersized 2G microSD card. What size mSD card will this phone accomodate? Are there any special formatting requirements or steps before using another card?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

The size is not dependent on the model number nor the carrier.

Support of maximum media card depends on the device's OS version

BlackBerry Device Software Media Card Size Limit

BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.0 Up to 2 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.1 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.2.2 Up to 4 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.3.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0 Up to 8 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.5.0.81 and later Up to 16 GB
BlackBerry Device Software 4.6.0 and later Up to 32 GB

Wow! I'm running OS 5 so this thing could handle a 32G card? Very nice.
Thanks for the prompt reply.

I use an 8gb on my 8530. (That is what I already had when I got the phone two years ago).

Doesn't matter. The device isn't going to access it that quickly.

The 8530 is rated by BB to use up to a 16GB sd card.

Sorry, but if you read above, you will see that this is incorrect information.
