Default Looking to pair my PB with 8530...

I've found a no contract BB Curve 8530 Phone with a good carrier. i am usually loathe to get cellphones, since contracts are obviously attached (minus this one, thankfully). I am really interested in the bridge feature of the PB. Is this doable with the 8530?

I also would like to know what the pro's and con's about this phone are. Compare it to say some of the newer BB's out there. Is it still a decent smartphone, and will I be happy with it if all I want is the bridge feature and the occasional BB app on the phone?

Also, the last BB I had was horrible with service reception. is the antennae good in this device, or have people had a lot of issues with it?

You're stuck on OS5, which is quite slow and outdated by now. The 8530 has had a known battery/USB port problem, I've seen quite a few members post about it. The device also feels extremely plastic, and lower end. It puzzles me why no-contract carriers haven't picked up the newest Curve model with OS7, or at least the Curve 3G with OS6.

As for your bridge question, yes it can as long as you're on OS5.
Perhaps life is just that...a dream and a fear.

Don't know why you think OS5 on the 8530 is slow...it's MUCH faster than OS6 on the Curve 3G. I used a Curve 3G and switched back because I couldn't handle the speed difference. (Also I like the buttons by the trackpad have vertical lines between them, so I know which is which without looking)

Made a mistake & sold my tour 9630, so I bought a new 8530 for $35; it bridges just fine with my PB. Speed is not like wifi, but as long as I'm in a decent area, it's fine.
