Help! My Blackberry 8520's trackpad doesn't scroll :(
Hey people!
I just bought a Blackberry 8520 second hand on T-Mobile, but it was second hand and I can't return it. The trackpad can click, but it can't scroll up,down, left, right, etc.
I took apart the phone and took the trackpad out using a youtube tutorial, and then I cleaned all sides of it (there was quite a lot of dirt built up inside). I turned it on, the trackpad still won't scroll up,down, left and right.
Can anyone help with this? I am new to blackberry phones and I am quite pissed off about this because I bought a second hand 8900 a few weeks ago and that can't scroll down
Thanks in advance, would really appreciate some help on this...

You probably need to purchase/install a new trackpad.
Perhaps life is just that...a dream and a fear. - 10-15-2011, 01:10 AM #3

this just happened to my girlfriends 8530, click but cant scroll. i had to replace the trackpad since its faulty. it was like $6 online and a 5 minute replacement with proper tools.
cleaning or reassembling wont help. its a hardware issue. - 11-15-2011, 05:45 PM #6
Hardware fixes??
do you know whether there is a hardware fix for it as My 8520 trackpad went about 2 months ago and my girlfriend's trackpad in her 8520 is going exactly the same way, So far I've bought 2 New trackpads to make sure I haven't got a dodgy/Faulty trackpad and still have no luck, I was tempted by the torch 9810 but if it turns out all trackpads are like this on all blackberrys i may just go for an Iphone

is a problem on the mobo. I discovered in 8520 that several devices curve came to me that the problem is happening because of the screw, that's right, screw that locks the plate underneath the trackpad that is making the problem happen. is a conflict in these two pieces, touching the plate, is causing the trackpad does not go sideways or up and down, just by clicking. then, to fix this just drop a little screw or remove the screw, leaving no screw. with it, all I get the problem solved in hours. resolved.
so, sorry to my English, but, is this
thanks a lot of !-------

Just started having this exact problem with my 2 year old 8530. If I hard restart it works, but as soon as the phone sits for even a minute, the trackpad won't work. I usually end up clicking, backing out, clicking, backing out, etc., until the damn thing works. Worth fixing or should I save up for a new phone? Phone works otherwise.
And are there keyboard shortcuts to scroll in place of the trackpad? - 05-29-2012, 01:20 PM #10
