HELP - BB curve 8520, vertical coloured lines across screen, disappear with pressure

So here's the problem. My blackberry curve has thin multi-coloured vertical lines running across the centre of the screen (see

I have not dropped or damaged the phone in any way. It started with one line, and slowly more keep appearing.
Apart from this the phone works fine, but the lines are annoying so I would like to get rid of them.
The strange thing is when I apply pressure to the top part of the phone, the lines disappear (see a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/302155_10150297137367248_574192247_7871439_2219587 _n).
If anyone has experienced something similar or has an idea what the problem is let me know.
My phone is no longer under warranty, and I have tried taking it back to my service provider, but Rogers is useless and for 2 months they sent it back and forth (un-repaired) with Blackberry, so I thought I would try fixing it myself.
I took the phone apart, and the LCD cable is not loose, and everything seems connected properly.
I don't think a new LCD screen would fix the problem considering the lines go away with pressure.
Any ideas?
