Default Email help please!

Hi folks,

I bought a used 8520 today and I have run into a little email problem. When I try to use the email setup wizard, the first screen says "I want to set up a BES email" blah blah blah and the radio button next to that is selected. I can't unselect it for some reason and there are no other options to select. I don't want to set up a BES email I want to just set up my gmail on it. Does anyone know why this is happening? Its likely that the previous owner used BES but the restrictions were taken off because its not password protected and the place the previous owner and I work would require a password. I did have to wipe the device when I got it because the previous owner left his contacts on the phone so I know all the email accounts etc were taken off too. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It seems a shame to have a Blackberry and not be able to get my email on it!

Thanks!

Sounds like there is still an IT policy on the phone maybe?

That message is typically indicative of not having the proper data plan (BIS) set up for the device.

You need to contact your phone service provider and ask them for the proper BlackBerry data plan.

Note that that particular message typically does not denote the presence nor absence of an IT Policy. It's related to the lack of the proper data plan.
