Default curve 8530 texting problems

I just switched from a storm to a curve 8530 and I'm not liking how the text messages are viewed. It looks more like a messenger program than actual text messages. Would a theme change be able to change that or will i just have to get used to it?

Delete your texts so they are not stringed together. That is one of the improvements in 5.0.

This is one improvement I do not like. I wish there was a way to "turn off" threaded text messaging. I receive Facebook and Twitter updates via text. That means all my Twitter updates are in one single thread, even though they're from five different sources and show as one new message in the banner. Not good for my use.

f you have a blackberry why do you still receive those via text? If you have the facebook app and UberTwitter your facebook notifications come thru the messages folder, not SMS and ubertwitter show the new message asterik on the icon if there are new tweets. you're making things harder than what they should be.

Understood. I prefer using text because it's fast and easy. I tried most of the Twitter apps and Facebook and I find them to be slow, clunky to use, or both. If I want to post the same update to both FB and Twitter, I just address it to both SMS numbers--much faster and easier than using SocialScope. This method works well for me since I follow and read a lot more than I post.

Ubertwitter and facebook apps both run smooth as can be on the 8530. So I don't know what you mean by slow and clunky. I mostly follow and read as well and I hate the text updates, always prefer an app for it. I guess you'll just have to pick your poison, deal with the threaded text, which I find to be awesome for general texting back and forth and for my espn updates, or use the apps.

so to confirm there is no way to change this? and it's mostly a 5.0 os thing?

I don't think you can change it. Yes, it's a feature of OS 5.

Don't know what you mean. If I go into the MMS box, I don't see any messages.

However, if I go into the SMS box, the messages appear separated. The notification icon still groups them though. That means if I open one of the Twitter messages that were grouped, they all get marked read in the notification area, even thought I only opened one of them.
