Curve 8520 Keyboard Issue and Complete Reinstall

Hi,

My curve 8520 running OS 5 Bundle 1167 was perfectly fine till last night but then this morning the keyboard just would not respond. The same thing has happened earlier but a hard reset usually fixed the problem but its been a whole day and I have not been able to access anything on the device.

The trackpad still works and pressing certain keys get random letters like "N" and "M" even when I press "S" or "A". I can hear the ringtones for text messages and BBM but i cannot access the messages.

Once after a hard reset for a very short time while the OS was loading after a restart, the keys worked and i could type normally but that lasted a few seconds and as soon as the OS was finished loading, the keys stopped working again. I've pulled the battery out and left it all day to see if that fixes it (don't really know how it would but i'm wiling to try anything at this point).

I've gone through google and most forum posts here but there doesn't seem to be an answer for this keyboard issue. I am now considering a complete reinstall of my OS as it seems to be the OS that is messing up. I've downloaded OS 5 and OS 4.6 which was the original OS that came with the phone.

I need some advice on whether I should do a downgrade of the phone or not. Anyone know if this will fix the problem? Really need help on this one.
