    Exclamation Contradictory GPS functionality

So my cousin and i both have the 8520 curve.

He is running os5.0.0.067 or something,
    i just updated to os5.0.0.1728

In the advanced settings option, he has a clear option titled "GPS" and is able to check-in and do all kinds of navigation etc

But in mine, there is no gps heading instead there is an option of "Location settings"
I cant change the 'gps data source' nor can i change 'location off' to 'location on'
When i opened both the options they're basically the same but just different titles.

Problem is that he can check-in on facebook and all that jazz but i cant!
I've searched and searched but no definitive answers.
    We're both using facebook v3.0

Somebody help me with a detailed response.
    THANKS!!

You and your cousin have different model phones. You probably have the 8520, which does not have GPS. He most likely has the 8530, which does have GPS. This clip from the spec page alludes to the difference.
Know where you're going with maps, directions to local businesses and turn-by-turn routes. The BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphone comes with BlackBerry® Maps built in, and the BlackBerry Curve 8530 smartphone features BlackBerry Maps and GPS capabilities.
Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do to enable the GPS when it doesn't exist.

Actually guys i confirmed by going in the About screen. The model is indeed a curve 8520. Also i think the 8530 is cdma but we're both on the same carrier and thats gsm. Just to add further clarification.
    THANKS AGAIN!
