Considering switching to tour

I got my sprint curve 8530 last thursday, and so far haven't been having a good experience.

I have horrible battery life with the device. With brightness at 10 percent, ten second backlight, locking the phone when not in use, having wifi and bluetooth off when not in use, and phone off or antenna off when in low service (about four hours), I am lucky to get through the day with a little bit of heavy use (web browsing). I have a few minutes of calls, and mainly texting and web browsing with some email. I expected better battery life out of a blackberry!

The reception on my phone is bad. I have five bars of sprint coverage at my house, but when I pick up the phone and start using it the coverage drops to two bars, zero bars, searching, and can't keep a signal. With one bar of service my phone won't send messages, and then I will lose the bar where my old phone would get one bar solid, sometimes two bars.

I might try exchanging the phone, but otherwise I am seriously eying a tour, even without the trackpad and wifi, or another sprint smartphone... Anyone that can help or suggest something to do about this would be great.

Swap it if you want to, you have to make the decision. I didn't like the Tour. The trackball failed within 2 weeks and the screen rippled a lot and had wavy screen refresh lines (and my Tour was a newer unit with a manufacture date in something like September).

The Tour has a slower processor, phone isn't quite as smooth. The only thing I liked better was the screen res. The camera isn't even much better being 3.2mp and it has some lighting adjustment issues.

Ok, thanks for the input. Are you having these issues with your Curve? If nobody is having these issues I might just try getting a new one and see if it's better, but if not I might switch out for a different phone...

My brother has the tour and i have the new curve, I perfer my phone and he prefers his, you have to look @ the specs, look @ what you use it for and decide which is best, everyone will have their own opinions as to which is best but only you know what is best for you.

Does anybody with experience with both phones know if the 8530 or Tour has better reception?

my tour had worse reception and battery life then my 8530 and has the charging and headphone port in an AWFUL place

I will say that the Tour trackball is probably going to get stuck. Doesn't matter how much you like it at first.

Ok. I might try trading in my Curve for a new one, it has been almost a week now, and see if that helps, if not, I might just look for a different phone.
