bricked? verizon 8530 having serious trouble

hi everyone, first post here but i have been lurking the forums trying to find the answer on my own.

i have a verizon blackberry 8530 that wont turn on. got it from a friend this way. bought brand new battery for it, plugged it into the wall charger and nothing. then tried connecting it via usb to the computer, again nothing.

then downloaded JL_cmlodr(sp?) and blackberry desktop manager and neither device could find the blackberry.

this is where i am stuck, how to i get the computer to recognize my device even though its not responsive, even when connected to pc via usb and bb desktop is open?

also the device is not water damaged.

Since you tried a new battery, and it still won't turn on, I'm not sure what else you can do. Did you let the BB charge for awhile after you put the new battery in?

Try plugging it into the charger and leave it plugged in for 24 hours and see if that does anything. Also, when you plug it into the charger, does anything come up on the screen or do any lights come on?

hey guys, i had left the BB charging with the new battery for at least 3 hours before i tried anything. no lights appear though..

do you think it could have shorted a circuit or is this possibly fixable?

Let it charge for 24 hours with the new battery. If you still get no response, it is most likely a hardware issue - which I don't think is fixable., and your friend gave you a bunk BlackBerry.
