Blackberry battery has a huge red x on the screen
okay, so
I was charging my phone after it was nearly dead this morning, I was in the middle of sending someone a bbm and the screen went white and the red led light came on
i left it alone for a couple minutes thinking it was gonna restart, it didnt
i took the battery out, checked the little white paper on the battery, nothing, no water damage
so i put it back in, and it first shows the battery with the charging symbol on it, then quickly goes to an empty battery with a red x on it
it does this on my laptop and wall charger, i took the battery out and tried plugging it in
it does the same thing with the battery as it does without the battery
halps

Well the obvious thing to try here is a new battery. If it still happens then the phones OS may need to be reloaded, doubtful but hopeful. If the "X" does not appear then you need to replace the battery as this one would be damaged or at least non functional.

This happens to a few people. They always say a new battery will get this solved, so you should give that a try.

I don't have a wall charger, just a usb wall port and my usb cable. does that matter? - 05-07-2011, 03:06 PM #7
The M-S2 (that battery) is the cheapest battery in the market for BBs. It's about 15 bucks, bro.
Uhm... Yeah, that'll (hopefully) do the trick. Give it a shot.
By the way, I'm not telling you your phone is fixed after this, just see if it works for you (just like the other guy in the other thread).Proud owner of:

If you charge via USB, your PC won't charge it. USB ports are current limited by design. An external USB charger MAY charge the battery if it puts out enough amperage. Make sure it will put out at least 700ma or 0.7A. If not, that's likely the problem.

i'm not a fan of ebay, plus i don't have a credit card, and i don't want to wait 2-3 weeks for my phone to work...
i'm going into the shop tomorrow and asking them whats up - 05-09-2011, 10:29 AM #12
I had this problem last week. I found out that my battery was cold & so I held it in my hand for about 30 mins - 1 hour. Eventually the heat from the center of your hand will give the cells in the battery a "jump start". After a while put battery straight in & charge ASAP. It should show charging symbol & fully charge ur phone with no problem. If it does or doesn't let me know in here.
No need buying another battery.

belive me i can tell you how to fix it, that means ur phone is not conecting with the battery, just drop the phone on a carpeted floor face ear side up of course. I know it sounds crazy but it works u must jar it up. don`t drop it any higher than 3 feet. try it a couple of times until it starts chargeing and then once it charges cut it on i promise try it
