BlackBerry 8520 - Freeze to White Screen

I have done a BBSAK wipe and OS update and restoration to no avail to fix this problem.

When my phone is not connected to a power cord, it will fade to a white backlit screen after a bit of using the internet, making a phone call or sending a text. When I attempt to restart the phone by means of a battery pull, it loads and eventually reaches the main menu for a couple of seconds then again freezes to a white screen. When I connect the phone to a power cord, it restarts itself then works fine as long as it is connected to the power cord.

Is this a hardware issue?

Pretty clear it's the battery at fault here - simply buy a new battery for your handset, they retail at about $10-$15 USD.
