battery with red cross through

my daughters phone wont turn on starts to boots and then battery symbol with red x through it..???
tried connecting to pc via bds bbsak wont connect at all

please please help

no tried another battery it even does it when there is no battery in there

I've read that the battery not making a good connection can cause this. Are any of the pins not out as far as the others?

no they all good i just need to know how to wipe bb it has to be a software fault so just be able to reinstall os would fix it i think but as i said bbsak wont detect it

Windows 7? Open task manager and kill everything rim, blackberry and try again.

try this. keep the battery out, plug in the charger, let the phone boot to the screen with the red x through the battery. now without disconnecting the charger, slip the battery in. should give a clean boot

did you try to connect to pc without the battery in the phone?

Watch those pins, if they are messed up then there is your answer.
Wipe the device. Install a new OS.
If none of the above work, then take your phone to the store for them to take a look at it. BTW, did the phone fall, get wet or anything like that? I'm thinking something in the phone's internals went wrong, but it could very well be the OS, so try wiping it first.
