Default All contacts are gone help!!!!

Had this BB for two weeks , store swapped contacts from treo to the 8530. All was fine until today my contacts became unsearchable so I said that's odd. Figured I would do a battery pull and after that all my contacts are gone. Attempted to do a restore and they still are not their. A search here and at the BB site didn't come up with any answers. Any help is appreciated.

Check to make sure you haven't inadvertently filtered them. In the Address Book, press Menu, Filter, and uncheck any boxes that are checked. Filters persist through a battery pull.

Ok, so the easy answer didn't solve it. Look in Options / Status /, Press Menu, and select Database sizes. Do you show an Address book? Does it have two numbers, like 1031/240.8k? If so, the first number is the number of contacts and the second number is the size of the database. If not 0, your contacts are still there, somewhere.

Do you still have the Treo so you can get them back?
Or maybe you have a backup, created with Desktop Manager?

To prevent this in the future, I suggest Google Sync or SmrtGuard. Both allow you to backup your contacts online OTA, so if you ever loose data on the device, you can recover from the servers (GSync will require a gmail account, even if a dumb one just for contact storage). Oh yes, and regular backups.

Yeah still got the Treo and will have to get them off of it. I did a restore from back up from a few days ago but it did not restore my contacts which i assumed it would wouldn't it? Guess ill try one of the other two things if normal backups don't keep that info, kinda disappointing.

    Thanks much for the help

Ok this may be easier than I thought. Also set up a new E Mail account just before this happened( I know why didnt you tell us that before, kinda forgot)

Anyway under contacts/menu/options it shows my contact list from the new email address which is empty.Had to go into desktop as well as disable sync on bb for email accounts and then send my address book over from restore.

    Thanks
