Alarms still go off when on silent??

I am sure this has been asked already but I was at the movies and I know that my alarm still goes off when it is on vibrate, so I put it to silent, it still went off. So I shut my phone off when I went to the movies and it turned on so my calendar notification could still go off. How can I change this? How can I get the notifications to do what I have the phone set to; vibrate, silent and off?

Set the profile you want to change (Vibrate, Silent, Normal, etc.) then go to the sounds option. Go to the 'Reminders', go to 'Calendar' then set the volume to whatever profile you want that volume to set on.

I don't think you can turn the actual alarm sound off. They're assuming that if you have an alarm set for something you'll want it to go off regardless of the sound profile you're on and that if you don't need the alarm, you'll turn it off.

Also, they have the phone turn on for the next alarm so that if it accidentally gets turned off you STILL don't miss the alarm. I think the only way to keep it from going off in any situation is to just not set the alarm if you don't need it.

Theres an app that will automatically change the profile based on what you schedule it for..I forget the name of it.

I'm very confused - why would you set a reminder that you don't want to be reminded of? Doesn't this kind of defeat the purpose of having the reminder?

I am actually having the oppposite problem...i dont know how to set my alarm to go off regardless of the volume profile, my phone was on silent today and i didnt hear my alarm causing me to miss work! please help!
