Default 8520 os 5 problem

i have a blackberry curve 8520 with os v 4.6. now the problem is that i cant install os 5 on my bb, ive searched the internet for this problem but no solution works for me. heres what ive tried already:
ive deleted the vendor file in my app loader folder and ran the software as an adminstrator but apploader dosent detect any os on my computer although ive installed os 5 on my pc and bb desktop detects it but when i try to install it says that u need a data plan, ive even tried bbsak and it dosent detect any os aswell. im running win 7
kindly help me with this problem ive searched the whole internet but nothing works. do i need a data plan to install os 5 or can i do that without the data plan. even facebook aap is not working as it requires os5. your help will be greatly appreciated.

Do a search for anything named vendor in the c drive also search the hidden files.

I have see multiple vendor files.

Try that.

The phone I am currently using is an 9930, but I also have an 8530 that I have as a back up just in case. Recently I upgraded to another OS that way not carrier friendly, but I was able to install the OS any ways.

I find this strange that you are having this problem.

Have you tried it with DM?

If you haven't turn of your internet connection so it only sees what's on you computer and loads that file onto your phone.

Actually as soon as you connect your phone it will tell you that there is an update available since you are still on 4.6 lol.

Do you have any device with a data plan?

Which Os 5 build are you using?

Which carrier is your phone locked with?

Default OS 5 Problem

Hi,

I'm new here and I realize this is a pretty old thread, but I'm experiencing the exact same problem as the OP. Tried every method from changing the 4.6 build, trying out different OS 5 builds, installing with and without the SIM card, the classic deletion of the vendor.xml file including searching my computer for any extras, and OS 5 is still deemed as incompatible with my 8520.

My vendor ID is 179 (F100) which means that there is no specific carrier for the device. I know this because my friend's sister who works for RIM got it that way, and then gave it to me.

Hopefully there are some solutions out there as I would really like to use the improved chat functionality found in OS 5. Not to mention, the improved performance and battery life.

Thanks again, and hopefully I get some replies!
