1xev in sprint / 3g in verizon???
Why is it 1XEV on sprint and 3G on verizon???
Does it mean its faster on verizon, or just a cosmetic thing.
I do know 1XEV means cdma 3G, but then why the difference!
Someone with knowledge, explain this to me!
Thanks!Last edited by miamimanu86; 07-29-2010 at 03:42 PM. Reason: importance to differentiate 1xev from 1XEV

1XEV is 3G.... Some handsets just display it differently.

Mine is Sprint and shows 1XEV
I bought mine a week ago, and I updated the same night with the o.s 5.0.0.654 and still shows 1XEV. Also the BlackBerry Bold 9650 on Sprint shows 1XEV.
These 2 aforementioned devices show 3G on Verizon. Still just a cosmetic "show-off" thing???
I think a network speed test between bb 8530 sprint vs. bb 8530 verizon is in order.IM THE MASTER OF MY OWN DESTINY... AND MY DESTINY IS BLACKBERRY... HOPE 4G IS ON ITS WAY. - 07-29-2010, 08:03 PM #5
Yea it's just a cosmetic thing, it's still 3G, and the speed is the same.
Wrong, Sprint still uses 1XEV on their BlackBerry's. As the OP says the 8530 shows it, and the 9650 also shows 1XEV.
Every Verizon BlackBerry since the Storm 2 (I think was released end of October 2009) has 3G in place of 1XEV. So that's just the 9550, 8530, and 9650. Some OS' from the 9530 and 9630 show 3G, but most of them are 1XEV. - 07-30-2010, 03:43 AM #6
its basically a cosmetic thing. some people on the newer OS's have it say 3G, others it says 1XEV. its all the same stuff.
people that are making the hybrid themes usually make it so it says 3G. - 07-30-2010, 11:52 PM #8
