Bills WR Stevie Johnson sorry for Getting Out of Hand For the second year in Bills WR Stevie Johnson sorry for Getting Out of Hand
For the second year in a row, Buffalo Bills wideout Stevie Johnson has ended up in the media spotlight for the wrong reasons. Yet again, moments of lighthearted honesty, whether on or off the field, seem to be too much for the pontiffs of pro sports to handle.
No sane fan of the sport should believe for a minute that Johnson's now infamous endzone antics during Sunday's Week 12 rematch against the New York Jets was a slight against victims of terrorism. I shudder to write that last sentence, grimacing at the thought of even acknowledging Sione Pouha's insinuation.
Steve Johnson not only said that he regretted the touchdown dance that somehow included a pantomime of wide receiver Plaxico Burress' self-inflicted gunshot and a plane crashing to the turf of MetLife Stadium in Buffalo's 28-24 loss to New York on Sunday, but also he sought out Burress to personally apologize.
Burress said the wide receiver left a voice message on his phone and sent him a text message to apologize.
Johnson was mocking the Jets' own TD celebration, period. The fact that media outlets across the country are carrying stories on Stevie's goofy endzone antics with headlines that even include the words "9/11" and "victims" is a truly sad state of affairs.
