NEW TO THE BB...GOIN CRAZY...Theme help please
Hello All, Im new to the whole BlackBerry movement, switched from my htc pocket pc, and this sh!t is bananas! Ok im trying to install a new theme, used the app loader, nothin shaking on that, then i tried dowloading it directly to my phone, nothin goin there either. ALSO, how do you access the storage card through your phone? im looking through the phone and basically all i can do is put stuff on the phone DIRECTLY, but not on the card...
waaaaaay different than my 6700. anyway any help i can get on that would be greatly appreciated...OH and my install cd is no longer read when i put it in the drive...any other movie, cd, dvd works fine..starting to regret makin the purchase...thanks in advance! - 09-21-2009, 11:09 AM #2
First never regret of becoming a bb lover, first you sd card, go to options » multimedia card selecte use al mass storage option an click in selecte or ask when connect, that will help you use your micros sd card as a normal usb pen drive, second with a theme first you must go to options » theme is there is not there go to options » advance options »aplications to see if you isntall properly, an the cd if its not working perhaps is damage, download it directly from internet Smartphones, Cell Phones & Smart Phones at BlackBerry.com and look around you will have the dm to install

I believe im using the right files (.alx, .cod , thats whats in the .rar file) but when i try to use the app loader, i get "no additional applications designed for your device were found" message , and even when i go to the theme menu, it doesnt see them either...it seems like a pretty sweet phone, (even though sprint yanked my tethering with the everything data plan) just tryin to make it sweeter...thanks again, ill mess with it some more later today, ive been working on this for like three hours!!
when i download the theme, it asks me where i would like to save it, is there a specific folder or place i should do this? i just use the default folder that pops up..Last edited by cassious; 09-21-2009 at 11:49 AM.

Ok first use the desktop manager to install the theme, is you get the message of no additional app is cause you have no additional operation system OS for you bb, i recommend you use DM instead of apploader, an in the DM put add application programs, that will automatically istalled an you no need to use a. Folder to save.

this is the link where i got the theme from hxxp ,blackberryseeker,com/themes/blackberry-8330-themes/14.aspx]BLACKBERRY 8330 THEMES DOWNLOAD FOR FREE
(im not sure if thats against the rules, sorry in advance if it is)
Blackberry orange theme
Blackberry 8300 Series (320*240) Curve Devices Models: 8300, 8310, 8320, 8330
so im guessin that yes, my phone is supposed to be compatible with the theme, i used rar to open the file.
extracted it to its own folder, then tried to use the device manager/ app loader to install...
oh, and im using vista btw...i know that sometimes visa causes a bunch of headaches, maybe that could be the issue?Last edited by cassious; 09-21-2009 at 05:19 PM.

Ok here we go step by step
1. Plug your Blackberry to your computer, open your Desktop Manager software and select Application Loader. Choose ‘Open’, then ‘Add’ and a dialog box should open up. Find the theme files you placed on your computer. Add the “alx” file associated with the theme, select it, and click OK. Follow the prompts to complete the download.
2. Go to ‘Options’ then ‘Themes’. Scroll through your list of themes until you find the new one you just downloaded. Select the theme and click the trackball to activate it and it takes a few secondsLast edited by larrygump; 09-21-2009 at 05:55 PM.
