This question has probably been answered but I can't find it anywhere.

Just did the tmo os upgrade and wanting to watch some youtube videos....video quality sucks! Is there something I can do to get it to play better?

It's YouTube that does the video conversion. This has nothing to do with BlackBerry or T-Mobile.

Video quality on youtube is not always the best on a desktop. Really depends on what they recorded the video with, camcorder, digital cam, web cam or cell phone. Then of course what formats it had to be converted to or from to be able to upload it. Then your internet connection comes into play as well, EDGE or WIFi, some videos that may be choppy on EDGE will be smooth on WiFi.
