It covers the LED light. Plus. The 8330 is thicker.

But the LED indicator on the 8300/10/20 is just a peice of plastic. The real LED on the mobo is going to blink no matter where the LED indicator is on the housing. I think it would fit but the light might not be as bright.
On my 8300 if you watch the blinking LED its brightest at the bottom of the LED indicator and gets darker as it goes up, so with the different spot on the 8330 i think it would be the opposite where the top of the LED indicator will be brighter.
I have an 8330 and killingwthasmile is right, the led is brighter on top. I'm pretty sure its just the led cover is in a different spot on the cdma vs gsm models. I've also seen an 8330 housing on 8300/10/20 and vice versa. Yeah the buttons are shaped a little different, but they prob contact the inside guts of the blackberry just the same.

To all those who will run across this older post a 8310 8320 and a 8330 are all interchangable if your using a aftermarket housing I do this everyday in my shop all my housings come from hong kong or china and I have yet to have a problem with the led or anything else

It's already well established that this is the case (pun intended).
