Default Wifi on Second Hand 8320

I bought a second hand BB 8320 a few weeks ago. I had to spend ages downloading the latest software, as everything was outdated (Appworld etc) and it now works great. However I can't connect to Wifi. It searches for available networks and finds mine, but when I click connect nothing happens. I've tried it at a friends house as well and get the same thing so it's not my router. The only thing I can think is that there's some driver or wifi software that needs updating, but I can't find where to download it despite spending ages googling! Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Do you have an active BlackBerry Data Plan for the device?

Hi, yes I do, T Mobile gave me a free trial so that's what I've been using to access the internet.

well the free trial won't last long.you'll eventually need the real bb data plan to access your wifi.but with wifi on,i don't believe it uses up your data mb.your data mb remain in tack.

I dont think it's that because absolutely nothing happens when I select the network on the wifi wizard and try to connect. The blackberry just doesn't respond at all
