i currently do not have tmobile black berry internet plan
but i do have my device connected to the wifi network.
the wifi is just a grey color and the network says "uma" sometimes and goes to "off"
would it be possible to connect to the internet to d/l operamini or other applications even tho i do not have blackberry plan ?

Yes. But be aware, that not all apps work over wifi.
