hey all.. i have a curve 8320 T-Mobile and i'm on a BES that i set up for my own business. Last month I noticed i had very low file free space, so i came on here and asked about it and downloaded OS 4.5 with crackmem. i wiped my whole device, deleted everything that could be deleted - that means no facebook, no games, none of that - and reinstalled with the crackmem cracks, etc. the only non-stock application i have is the free version DocumentsToGo. and yet my blackberry was just crawling with 5 million bytes of file free space until i just did a hard reset and now it's back up to 20 mill. is this normal?
Thai is normal, everything is working just the way it should.
The version upgrade has made a big difference, in particular the new setting of 5 Mb for Media memory.
After a fresh build, you have the maximum amount of free memory. A file free of 20 Mb is plenty, the OS will use about 10 Mb give or take a bit. The memory manager does it's job in the background and keeps it stable above 5 Mb.
Also, you could use a program like Aerize Card Loader that allows you to load and unload apps from your media card. I had over 14 apps on my older Pearl (8120) with around 20MB free. I now have the same apps on my Flip with 55MB free without using the loader.
