on my curve i have 4.2 what's the difference with the rest of them and is it worth upgrading

The version numbers you have listed here are in regard to Desktop Manager, not the OS for your BB.

You can't put those DM version on your BB, and their is no relation to your handheld OS.

also, is there anything i should be doing to ensure I am running the most updated software?

What version of DM are you running? i would recommend that you have DM version 4.2, SP 2, or DM version 4.3, some people find 4.3 a bit buggy, but you may find different.

On the handheld OS, if your device is working well, no issues, leave it be. Otherwise, look at the top of the 83xx section here at the Sticky Notes for the latest version and instructions of your handheld OS.

running 4.2 for s system software, and the only problem i had was yesterday i got app error 523 but i removed a theme and BBsmart and it came back up. DOnt know which one was the problem?
