I am wanting to download music to my memory device so I want a buy a bigger microSD device but I know some bigger ones may not be supported by my curve, thus wasting my time and money. Is 2G the biggest it will support or will a 4G work? Or can I even go bigger? Also another very important question...will the SDHC "Micro SD High Capacity" work. Sometimes these higher capasities items won't work in my video/camera devices, so this is very important too.
Thank you so much for everyone who will give me their expertise.
Official documentation says 4gb. There have been a few people I think that have, for whatever reason, gotten larger cards to work. When the new OS version 4.5 is released larger capacities will be officially supported on the 8300 models.
I have a 16gb in my curve- didn't want to give it up when I returned the storm so I purchased a clean one and kept the one that came with my storm. No problems with it.
Hmmm! Good to know that I could go to 16gb!
I just upgraded my 4gb card to 8gb today for my 8330 with the latest OS.
The 8gb really dropped in price from when I got the 4gb one back in Oct!
i have a 4 gig in mine, when it was demo'd to me it had a 8 init, and it worked, but then the sales lady said a 4 would be th ehighest it could ssupport, so i stuck with that
i've been using an 8GB SD micro and had no problems at all. I think somewhere in the documentation that comes with the Curve it tells you that's the max size. It may have expanded though with the release of 4.5, I'm not sure though because I'd been using it even with 4.3.
I have verizon curve 8330 with ver offical firmware 4.5.0.77. I put in a 16gb card and it works fine contrary to some of the sd card quick guides.
I am running the same version OS as you (.77) and tried the 16gb card. I found that the media player didn't recognize all the files I downloaded onto the card.
If I chose the EXPLORE option under media, I could see that all the files I downloaded were there and I could even play songs from there that weren't recognized through the regular music menu...but that's kind of a pain to do Explore every time I want to find certain music files.
Is it worth upgrading to a non-official Verizon OS?
