I've had my BB for 2mos, but can't find handheld os. Do I have one and don't know it or do I need to download one OTA? I have computer but no internet. I uploaded desktop manager.

What do you mean? Your BB is running an OS. You can go to Options > About, look at the third line down and it will say which version of the OS you have. It is not something you can download OTA. And if you don't have internet on your computer, then you won't be able to upgrade the OS if you wanted to.
