I found the official 4.5 OS with version .177 from Blackberry's Web site for Alltel download.

Is there a "newer" one out there floating somewhere that is in Beta format still?

Just checking to see. I hadn't heard of one, but I'm back to my Curve after being shifted off to something else at work for a while.

The latest official OS for your device/carrier can be found here:

However, as BBTelus stated, the latest OS for your device can be found at the top of the forums in a sticky thread. They are often OS released for other carriers but they will work fine on your device because the software is device specific not carrier specific as long as you remove the vendor.xml file before upgrading. Download links and instructions are in the first post of the sticky threads.
