- Hi all!
(I am a new member here and tried to respond to someone's post but it appears to have not gone through. I tried to send a PM, and the first time it appeared to go through as a reply to a post but it didn't go to the thread. I have no clue where it went. Too funny!! Then, I tried again, and I'm sure I did it right...BUT I checked today for a reply and the PM I sent doesn't show in my control panel as a "sent PM." I'm not sure if the recipient got it. LOL! So, I've decided to forget PMs in favor of asking all of you.)
I've searched the forum but now I can't find the thread that talks about what I'm asking for.
My fiance has a BB Tour and when we travel, we use the navigator all the time. I wanted my own BB because of the GPS. So, I bought a Curve, a lilac 8530. When I got my new phone, on Feb 6th, I installed navigator only to find out I had 5.1 and it didn't work like the old program did. The feature we used primarily was removed in the new version. In the meantime, the day I got my phone and we noticed I had the newer version, he upgraded his. Boy oh boy, we quickly regretted that as soon as we tried to USE it.
We'd both like to downgrade to 4.-something but his phone doesn't give him that option and my phone is a liar. I go to the application list and it says I can downgrade but then when I go through the motions, it wants to install the newest version. I'm sure all of you have seen this...I've seen countless complaints about this very problem; the new version stinks and downgrading isn't a viable option. Sure, the carousel is nice but not nifty enough to counter the issues with the main program itself.
So, here's my question. Does anyone have the files from an older version that they can send me? I'd like to manually downgrade with DM, on both of our phones. Whoever sends me files would be doing me a huge kindness; I bought my phone so I could use THAT program.
'Bella02-23-10 12:27 PMLike 0 - i believe you can go to blackberry.com and d/l the "downgrade" OS versions. i had tons of problems w/the 4.5.0.175 OS & was able to back it out...before i upgraded to a hybrid OS5. i think it's the "software" tab, then look around for "handheld software for your device" or some such. be sure & uninstall any previously installed BB OS off your PC from your control panel/add or remove programs screen before unzipping the new one...good luck.02-23-10 04:30 PMLike 0
