I absolutely have no use for my video camera on my curve 8230 I was wondering two things 1. Does the application take up memory (that I obviously need considering I am down to 18mb) 2. Can I remove it and still have my Berry work fine.

    OS 4.3

I have a Bold with a video camera.

No, I haven't found a way to 'remove' it.

And, what if I see an UFO? I want to capture it on video...

The video recorder is only 27KB, so you won't really gain much space by removing it.

Why do you think you need more space? I constantly run at around 16MB, and have never had a problem.

I need more space because my berry is super sluggish with the 18mb I have, an hour glass for the calculator???

Hour glass for how long? Any app will pop up the hourglass for a second.

Removing the Video Recorder still wouldnt free up any memory. Seeing that you cant use it unless you have a sd card anyway. Try doing a battery pull once a day or installing quickpull onto your berry.. which will help you free up memory.. i have 8 apps and two themes and i have 22mb of free memory.

Have you checked if there are any apps running in the background bogging your BB down?

Hold the Alt key down and press the Back key. There should only be 5 apps running.

Alt and back carries me to different applications like internet, email and weird things really fast but from a quick glance I see just about 5.
When I end a program I end it with the back key if that helps

Don't let go of the Alt key after you hit back and you can scroll the list.

You should always use the menu button to close an app, otherwise some stay running and can slow things down.

It's flashing them really fast 'cause you need to hold the Alt key and then press the Back key. Sorry I wasn't more clear, then you can roll the trackball over the apps that are showing then when you release the Back key it will open the selected app. If you don't want to open anything that is displayed, select the Home Screen icon.

Also, it's better to use the Menu key then select Exit or Close to end apps when you are done with them. The Back key doesn't always close them.

The best way to close them out is to hit menu>close or exit whichever one applies

So i removed my video camera no extra space really just one icon less...
If anyone was wondering how I did it

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8320-v4.3.1.27_P2.7.0.30\Java

    look for net_rim_bb_videorecorder.cod
about 24kb and put it in a folder entitled removed (you have to make this yourself) and its gone...

Only reason I didnt downgrade to get rid of it is because I liked the OS jus not the video cam...
