I am currently using 4.5.0.77. My question is there a new verison that other Verizon users have that I can download. Need something that won't void the warrenty on the phone. Also need to know how to revert back to 4.5.0.77 if something would happen.

You have the current Verizon OS. I installed the Sprint OS anticipating no warranty issues. I guess you could always switch back to the older version if you had a warranty issue.

Download the current OS to your PC and save the file somewhere (it's actually an installer file, not the actual OS), but don't install it.

Now you can upgrade to something else.

If you ever need to take the phone in to Verizon, use the link in my sig to downgrade the phone back to 4.5.0.77 (upgrade/downgrade procedure).

Does anyone have a workable verison that they are using that they can link me or email me? If so send me a BBM with the link then I will look it over and install.

I have not stated this yet but I am new to the blackberry world so any help would be nice. I have been reading the Blackberry 101 posting and it does have some helpfull info. Only thing is that they where posted in 2007 and this is 2009.

I recommend running 4.5.0.131 from Sprint, it will work flawlessly on your Verizon Curve. The .77 OS you're running is a buggy OS and had the known speakerphone blast issue when you first take a call...

I've been running 4.5.0.131 on my vzw 8330 since the day that OS hit the streets. It's been problem free for me.

Here is the link to download 4.5.0.77:

    BlackBerry® Software Updates

Don't use the web-based upgrade link, because it doesn't save a copy of the OS to your PC.

I agree, 4.5.0.131 is very stable and is an improvement over .77

I am going to try to install the 4.5.0.131. My questions is this. I must delete the vender.xml file before I do the install. Will it revert back to the verizon settings and will I have to do a restore to put my settings back into place?

It automatically does a backup/restore during the upgrade process, but it is always advisable to make a manual backup before upgrading just in case.

As long as you delete the vendor.xml file everything will be ok. FYI, I advise you use Desktop Manager 4.6 not 4.7 for the upgrade. If you use DM 4.7, you have to disable your internet/network connection before doing the upgrade.

Ok. I have it installed. It is rebooting as I type this. How long is the reboot time when you do a upgrade like this?

Usually takes about 30 - 40 minutes total.

Just don't unplug till you get a Operation Completed message, or an error message.

Ok, it install with no errors which is a good thing. I looks like it restored all my settings back to where they were. I just did *228 to update the phone programming. My question is what all was updated when I went from 4.5.0.77 to 4.5.0.131?

Not much, but the major fix was it gets rid of the speakerphone blast issue. IMO the OS is a bit snappier and more responsive, and there is less memory leak.
