    Quick post.

Just experienced my first case of speaker blast with v. 131!

    Any thoughts?

This is the first I heard of it, .66 and .77 had it, a few had it with .89, but it seems to be gone with .131

Mine's been fine. A couple of minor sentences, (not quite an issue) but no speaker blast.

Ok.... What do you mean by a couple of minor sentences? Could it be that I'm experiencing something different?

In my case, as soon as I answered the phone, the first couple seconds of audio came thru the speaker phone, and then it reverted back to normal hand set.

Has happened only that one time so far.

I'm not being condescending, but have you checked your OS version on your BB? Are you sure your upgrade took and you are on .131?

As mentioned, this would be the first known case of speakerblast occurring on .131

Yeah, I'd check to make sure you have the correct OS on the phone. 127 still had speaker blast, it dissapeared with 131. No issues here!

Hey xliderider, no problem at all.

But yes, the upgrade did take - see attached.

And yes, it was speakerblast this morning.

As of right now, I guess I can only wait and see if it happens again.

    OK.....

As of this morning, I got another hit of speakerblast, on v.131!

I was MAKING a call, using a speed dial button. After pressing the button to call the number, the speaker went off for maybe 1 - 2 secs. Just enough to hear like one ring.

Yes, I really do have .131 installed (see above).
    No, its not my imagination.
And please lets remember that with any software, we do not know whether there is a problem/issue, until it begins to manifest itself.

    Any thoughts?

Maybe it is not the software then, it might be firmware issue

Well, you can try upgrading to 4.5.0.138

The platform version is 3.4.0.30 as opposed to 3.4.0.25 on the .131 OS

Yes, that's my project for this afternoon.

Question: has it been determined what actually causes speakerblast? Software, firmware, or is it caused by a conflict of applications?

As is usual, thanks for all the assist!

Ya I am not sure what to make of it. Being that I have not had a problem on .131 and .138...... So it either is a bug that get trigger. But looking over the past OS's you really don't see allot of people saying they are having the speaker blast issue with newer OS's version's

I kept my os .77 and there are times that i get a speaker blast, and then it'll be days-sometimes week or two-before i get a speaker blast again. So i dont know, maybe it is just within the bb itself. I did not change my os because i dont want to void my warranty, so i just deal with the moodiness of the speaker issue on/off.

I do not think this has been determined. It seemed to have started with 4.5.0.77 with VZW anyway. We thought it was cured with .131 Not everyone has this problem with .77, some more than others. I get very rarely so it is not big deal for me.

.131 seems to have eliminated for some reduced for others. No clear cut reason or combination of reasons. I would lead towards firmware though. So many here run various software and OS's and have this issue, whiles other regardless of OS never have the problem

I have run into speaker blast on my 8330 running .131 as well. I've had 131 installed since the day the beta became available here on the forums, and I've only had it happen once... But it does happen. Weird...

2 people with reported speaker blast running on .131 out of all the installations out there doesn't seem bad at all, IMO. Furthermore, it seems to be random, isolated occurrences that aren't easily reproduced.

Would agree X, but it also appears that more and more folks that have .131 installed are start to report it. I hope this is not the case.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I oly remember speaker blast when using the S speed dial. Anyone else get it when speed dialing on specific keys?

I just experienced my first case of speakerblast. I am running Sprint's 4.5.0.131 since it was released in I believe it was February. I called my wife and sounded like a microsecond of some banshee screaming and then my wife's soft voice. It was rather surreal. It sounded like my phone was possessed.
