Yes you can create a distribution list and email from it. In the address book, hit the BB button and select "NEW GROUP" and there you go.
What I'm not sure of is syncing of distribution lists on BES.
Where I work we create groups for Outlook, like R&D and whatnot which has a whole list of people in them. Then we can just send to that if we need. Works well.
