You need to contact Alltel to activate the service (tethering) or you will be charged. It is extra to tether with Alltel.
Ps. It can be done without adding the service, but you will have an outrageous bill when your account is audited.

Unlimited data applies to your phone not on your computer. You need to add tethering for $30 to your account.

Yes, AT&T requires a tethering plan. Tethering is an additional $30/month.

I'm telling you, since you have the SEP, I really don't think it costs any extra...

if you have att and already have the blackberry personal bundle, the tethering is only an extra $10. You get 5GB of data usage before they start to charge extra. Not quite sure how much surfing you can do before you hit the 5GB mark tho.

Or switch to TMO. The Unlimited Blackberry Plan for $19.99 covers data and email and there's no extra charge for tethering.

It does not cost any extra to use your BB as a modem on sprint, do it all the time. Just make sure you have the data plan or it will cost you.
