I have a curve 8520 and currently i reside in a location where blackberry services are not provided by any telecom provider, however I have a 3G plan and I can use my blackberry as a 3G modem when I connect it to my PC but I cannot use 3G on the device itself.
Please Help

The 8520 does not have 3G capability, no matter which service provider one has. From RIM's site:

8520
Quad-band: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS networks
Quad-band: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz EDGE networks

Sorry I guess I was confused. I have Edge on my phone and I can use it to access the internet when I use the blackberry phone on my laptop, but i cannot use it directly on the phone.
