Is there a way to type multiple numbers without having to hit the alt button every time. with an old non-blackberry phone i would just hit the alt button 2 times and it would stay numbers until i hit it again, but with my curve it just goes on and off.

Press alt then the left capital button. Press alt again to turn it off.

That is the number lock (or you can hold alt). Also, for Caps lock its ALT + RIGHT Shift

I've gotten really good at sliding my left thumb over both the ALT and the left Cap button to turn the num lock on.
