Hi,

I have a techno impaired friend who needs her curve updated. I know the DM seeks out the pin # of the device so is it possible for me to back up and update her curve without compromising mine?

As far as I know, yes. My wife just got a Pearl, and we are fine.

Then again, we have not updated the respective OS on either phone, and still use the stock DM.

The Desktop Manager recognizes what kind of device you have and then goes and looks for any updated s/w that you have downloaded and installed on your pc.
I work in IT for a company and upgrade multiple devices a day usng the same Desktop Manager everytime.
