By the end of the day my blackberry 8330 usually has one bar left and then goes to low battery. I always wanted to try if I could just turn off the internet service yet have calls and texts recieved but when I turn off the network, it turns off everything. Is there a way to just turn off the internet? :/

You can turn off data, but I'm not sure if you'd get your texts. Try it, and have
a friend text you to see if it goes through.

Do you have a car charger? I really depend on mine to keep my Curve going.

sms (plain text) will continue as long as voice is active. MMS(picture messages) requires a data signal.
    Go to "manage connections",
then "mobile network options", here you can turn off data.
